Getting Ready to Work

The team at Terra Rosa was lucky enough to enjoy a fantastic Mexican lunch on Melbourne Cup day, relax and celebrate the day with a few bubbles. As we joined many people in Australia to watch the race that stops the nation we also recognised that many people aren’t as fortunate to be treated to an office lunch and break in their working day.

In today’s challenging economy many people in the world and throughout Australia struggle daily to find employment. The plight for many is undeniably tough and when we heard about the incredible organisation Ready to Work we decided to provide a little help.

As described on their website:

Ready to Work is a not-for-profit organisation that helps disadvantaged Western Australian women during their quest to gain – and maintain – meaningful employment and take the first steps towards financial independence and a better life.

With our three-step program, we support vulnerable women disadvantaged by poverty and the circumstances that lead down that path, from long-term unemployment to illness, disability, family break-up, abuse and marginalisation.

Ready to Work gives women the basic resources they need to maximise their chances in an increasingly competitive labour market.

With a homemade dessert sale for our Melbourne Cup lunch our staff raised some funds for Ready to Work. Ready for Work also seeks donations for working wear outfits to prepare their client’s for interviews. Some of our office staff were also able to provide some outfits for the organisation.

Since 2009 Ready for Work has transformed the lives of some 800 people but they need help to continue their services. If you would like to help, donate or send work outfits and items to Ready for Work please visit their website:
